Ecological Revitalization Project of Farmland in Jalžabet
Project Lead: Step for Humans

Location: Jalžabet, cadastral parcel 323/4
Area: 1,596 m²
Project Duration: 3 years
Required Funds: €39,900 (€25 per m²)

Project Description

The project aims to implement a three-year ecological revitalization of severely degraded farmland in Jalžabet, with the ultimate goal of allocating the land to local farmers for organic and sustainable food production under expert supervision. The land is currently in extremely poor condition due to years of excessive use of heavy machinery, widespread application of synthetic agents (herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, artificial fertilizers), and frequent weather-related disasters (wind, hail, drought).

Currently, the soil is used solely for growing low-nutritional-value crops intended exclusively for animal feed.

Implementation Plan

The project is carried out in three main phases:

  1. Scientific and Technical Preparation
    • Soil and water sampling, laboratory analysis (chemical, physical, biological properties)
    • Development of a three-year revitalization plan in collaboration with agronomists, pedologists, and biologists
  2. Implementation of Revitalization Measures
    • Planting a protective green belt and cover crops to reduce erosion and promote biodiversity
    • Use of environmentally friendly methods to enrich the soil
    • Engagement of local farmers in implementing measures under expert supervision and education
  3. Transparent Documentation and Land Allocation
    • Public sharing of all project phases via social media and official channels
    • Annual soil inspections and analyses, monitoring of biodiversity
    • Upon completion of revitalization, allocation of land to organic producers with continued expert supervision

Financial Structure (Total: €39,900)

  • Laboratory analysis of soil and water
  • Development of a professional three-year plan
  • Planting of green belt and cover crops
  • Equipment and tools
  • Daily allowances for local farmers
  • Education and mentoring
  • Monitoring, annual analyses, and documentation
  • Communication, documentation, and digital tracking
  • Administration, logistics, and unforeseen expenses

Social and Psychological Impact

The revitalization of this farmland goes beyond physical soil restoration. The project has a significant psychological and educational impact on owners of surrounding parcels, as they witness in real-time how severely degraded soil transforms into a fertile oasis rich in plants, microorganisms, birds, and beneficial insects. This encourages a shift in mindset and motivates the local community to take similar positive steps.

Public Acknowledgment of Donors

A large informational board will be placed on the parcel with details about the project, listing (with their prior consent) the names of all donors as a permanent expression of gratitude and recognition for their support. The board will be permanently installed and regularly updated.

Call for Participation

We invite you to support a project that restores life to depleted soil, provides opportunities for local farmers, and strengthens community resilience to climate change. Every donation, regardless of amount, directly contributes to the restoration of soil that will once again produce healthy, local, and sustainable food.

The land remembers. Let’s give it a new chance.
